The Google Adwords Problem:

You don't have to look hard to find someone that will be happy to spend your hard earned dollars on Google Adwords for you.  Most companies today charge 30% of whatever you are spending to manage your account.  In my opinion that's way too much for the work they are actually doing.

With Google Adwords you have the ability to pay Google for top placement.  Your ad will potentially show up at the top of the search results for the keywords you choose.  Some keywords are more expensive than others, and Google sets that price partially based on the number of people bidding for that keyword.

At the end of 2016 Google made some changes to the look of the Adwords section.  They've made it pretty difficult to tell the difference between an ad and an organic listing.  That means people that would have skipped over the ads in the past are now clicking on them.
