Co-Citation For Chiropractic Websites

Last Updated: May 31, 2019

If you haven’t heard the term co-citation yet you need to be ready for it in the world of chiropractic search engine optimization.  Achieving a top rank for your chiropractic website in the past was all about building back links to your website or making sure you had proper title tags or keywords in your posts.

Today Google is moving towards an environment of author authority which will be determined in a number of ways. Co-citation is will basically be the term for Google looking at you as a whole. They will look at everything that you represent online to see if you should rank for given search terms.

What this means to you as a chiropractor is that the more active you are online producing quality content the more likely you will be to show up in the top search results. This is a major change from the old system of backlinks and search engine optimized title tags and meta descriptions. If you have established yourself as the authoritative source for a certain topic in your area, the things your produce will be pushed to the top of the search results without the need to traditional SEO practices.

This doesn’t mean that SEO is dead, but it does mean that is has changed significantly. There is no longer any purpose to pushing out lots of low level content. All of your focus needs to be on quality information that your potential new patients want to see.

This video from Rand Fishkin of SEOMOZ will help you to gain a better understanding of this topic.
